Large Scale Structure of the Universe: Current Problems
According to current paradigms the Universe is homogeneous and isotropic on large scales, density perturbations grow from small random fluctuations generated in the early stage of the evolution (inflation), and the dynamics of the Universe is dominated by cold dark matter (CDM) with some possible mixture of hot dark matter (HDM). On small scales galaxies are associated in groups and clusters. U...
متن کاملLarge Scale Structure of the Universe Introduction
The changes of main paradigms on the structure and evolution of the Universe are reviewed. Two puzzles of the modern cosmology, the mean density of matter and the regularity of the Universe on large scales, as well as the possibility to solve these puzzles by the introduction of more complicated form of inflation, are discussed. 1 Changes of paradigms in cosmology Until mid-70's it was generall...
متن کاملLarge Scale Structure of the Universe
How is the universe organized on large scales? How did this structure evolve from the unknown initial conditions of a rather smooth early universe to the present time? The answers to these questions will shed light on the cosmology we live in, the amount, composition and distribution of matter in the universe, the initial spectrum of density fluctuations that gave rise to this structure, and th...

How is the universe organized on large scales? How did this structure evolve from the unknown initial conditions to the present time? The answers to these questions will shed light on the cosmology we live in, the amount, composition and distribution of matter in the universe, the initial spectrum of density fluctuations, and the formation and evolution of galaxies, clusters of galaxies, and la...
متن کاملRegularity of the Large-scale Structure of the Universe
Recent analysis of the distribution of clusters of galaxies is reviewed. Clusters of galaxies located in rich superclusters form a quasiregular lattice. The power spectrum of clusters of galaxies has a sharp peak at wavelength λ0 = 120 h Mpc corresponding to the lattice step. The peak in the spectrum may be due to processes during the inflationary stage of the structure evolution.
